How to build a good footballer
How to build a good Footballer

Football is a demanding sport. Whether you are playing it as a hobby or with your sights set on the lifting one of those all-important cups, you need to keep your eye on the ball, (or should I say, your fork on the broccoli) to keep yourself in top condition.

Q: Why are Fitness and Nutrition important in Sport?
A: Sport generally by its very nature involves some form of movement or exercise or prolonged activity. Therefore, physical fitness is very important in how, why and when to train for success. Similarly, if the body does not carry the right fuel it will not perform as expected.
Q: My fitness is fine, so why should I take any notice?
A: That’s great! But unless your physical fitness and diet are constantly monitored, tailored or improved you could find yourself slipping down a level or two.
Q: Will the information be ok for me?
A: Our aim is to produce as much information as possible that will help as many people in as many situations as possible – so yes!
Q: My sport doesn’t require much movement.
A: OK, but keeping fit through regular exercise and managing what we eat, can prolong life and keep us healthier for longer!
Q: I already have a fitness trainer or nutritionist.
A: Great! So make sure that they are your first port of call if you need any answers or help. We are here to support sport, NOT to replace anybody or anything.

Guest Coach Paul Robinson

Hi All, Welcome to the Technical Section for Q4sport!

This section is slightly different because instead of one expert or specialist we have a lot! So what we have decided to do is to introduce guest coaches from different sports and ask them to tell us how they do things - simple!

Don’t forget to look out for your sport and feel free to look around the other sections in the Technical area that are shown above.

Good Luck.

Q: What is Technical information?
A: Technical Information is what most coaches would describe as the part of development that they would like to do - so they do. It involves teaching and coaching the why’s and wherefore’s of HOW, WHY and WHEN to do a particular skill, movement or technique i.e. how to pitch in Baseball or swing the club in Golf.
Q: Why do we need it?
A: It is vital to learn and understand your particular sport to be successful. Your coach or parent is the first person you should ask about this.
Q: Will the Q4sport Technical information be all that we need?
A: No. The technical information provided here is designed to be thought provoking and available where there are no coaches present. The Q4sport advice is to always ask your coach or parent f you are unsure about anything in your sport.
Q: What sports will Q4sport cover?
A: We will be starting off in Football/Soccer and Golf with guest coaches and then developing other sports as we go.
Q: What about if my coach says something different?
A: Always listen to your coach and/or parent. There could well be a misunderstanding or a different way of putting things together that means the same thing. We are here to support NOT to replace!
