Students at Chichester College studying Football Coaching are delighted with the results of using an innovative new tool to assist them in achieving their National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2. It is an internet based facility called Digilog.
Course leader and lecturer Darin Killpartrick said this week, “Digilog is an outstanding resource that our students can easily access and interact with to provide evidence for their NVQ. It is very flexible and can be utilized in varying environments i.e. at college or at home.”
Alan Kenworthy, Managing Director of Q4Sport, a Company based in Horsham, came up with the concept. As a professional football coach, Alan has worked for Brighton & Hove Albion and numerous development clubs during his career. He said, “I wanted to create a world-wide revolutionary resource which helps young people involved with sport to develop and progress their sporting abilities. Digilogit.com enables people to download a free personal record dedicated to their particular sport, add their own images, record their achievements, set their personal goals and make plans for their future. They can share information and learn new skills online. It really is the latest ‘got to have’ in sport and can be downloaded for a variety of sports including football, golf, rugby, cricket, tennis, hockey, swimming, baseball, basketball and gymnastics, with more planned this year!”
Chichester College are not the only ones to sign up for a Digilog; Sussex County Football Association and the Sussex Sports Partnership are already offering the facility and Surrey County Cricket Association have plans to have one soon. Alan is in discussions with a number of premiership football clubs who are considering the idea for their coaches, players and fans.
Dean Wilkins, former professional football player and ex Manager of Brighton & Hove Albion, wholeheartedly supports the project. Having been involved with the development, Dean said, “In my coaching and managerial career I have always placed a huge emphasis on player development and the need for players to gain more knowledge to help them progress both personally and professionally. It’s a fantastic tool at all levels and can be used across a whole range of sports.”
